Sixty three riders are vying for the 50,000 pound prize and Mitsubishi trophy. Seventy two horses pass the initial inspection in front of a large crowd.
Bayou Messipierre the ride of frenchman Regis Prud'hon failed the inspection and was therefore eliminated.


An exciting field includes Andrew Hoy fresh from his Rolex Grand Slam victory in Lexington.
